Today was my first day on the job at Wal-Mart. We had orientation where we got to know some of our fellow STP friends more deeply. Kari and I met a friend named Josh and we couldn’t remember his name so we called him Jake for two reasons. First because he looks like a Jake and second because he resembles Jacob from Twilight. After that it just became an inside joke and we all wanted fake names for the summer. Kari looks like a Jade we determined and mine is Jenny. So our nametags have our new and improved names (temporarily of course =) ). After our orientation meeting they explained what our job position would be. I work in claims. I had no idea what that was until I was kindly introduced to Ginnie, which sounds nearly identical to Jenny so we get confused sometimes. Claims is the area where all the damaged, stolen, and returned items go in the back room. We scan and package up the items and ship them off. It is interesting to say the least; lets just say we will never get bored. It looks like a very disorganized garage sale or a cluttered basement full of junk that has been set aside for the last five years to collect dust. I will make the best of whatever the job has in store for me but it is definitely not the position of my choice. I love to meet new people so I was hoping for a cashier position. I think it is good for us to be in situations we wouldn’t necessarily pick out for ourselves, it gives us opportunity to grow. We went to see Kung Fu Panda tonight for our group social. We had a fun competition to where each room had to dress their room leader as an animal. We dressed Amanda up as a Zebra with black striped face makeup, striped shirt, black leggings, braided mayne, and a toilet paper tail, and we won!! =)
