Sunday June 5th

Today was the first day we were allowed some free time.  I decided to wake up early and go for a run.  Running along side the ocean was a new and invigorating experience for me.  It is by far the best way to get a work out in, except that the ocean's vastness and magnificence are very distracting.  When I felt like I had accomplished a good distance I paused at the Pier to catch my breath and soak in all the beauty.  I started walking and discovering these cute teensie weensy shells.  There are millions of them scattered among the sand, especially in the morning.  I picked out the ones I was drawn to most and some with holes in them (for jewelry making). I decided I am creating a shell collection! Before I began running again I glanced around at other people on the beach they all seemed so full of energy yet at the same time peaceful and never more content.  This was a great way to start off my day.  We went to church at Garden City Baptist.  I really enjoyed it because the pastor went straight from scripture and started at the very basics then into detail.  We are going from the book of Thessalonians this summer in church.  During our leisure time we played in the ocean and went to Krispe Kreme for Wi Fi since we don’t have access to it at our hotel.  For dinner I had a picnic on the beach with Kari, Joel, Tyler, and Ethan.  I’ve discovered a new favorite beverage and that is iced ¾ cup coffee and ¼ cup milk.  It is delicious especially on a hot summer day so I included that in my dinner.  We swam in the ocean after dinner and played a little Frisbee.  I got hit in the nose with a Frisbee, it was extremely funny, painful, and slightly embarrassing!  It just came out of nowhere.  People at STP play Frisbee a lot and I try to avoid it haha especially after getting hit.  A group of us were planning to walk to the Pier but a storm was coming our way, which was thrilling for me because I love storms! We headed to the hallways of our hotel to stay dry and enjoy the storm.  A few people brought their guitars this summer and they joined together to play worship songs.  It was a really neat thing to feel the community and love this project brings.  We have our eyes and hearts set on God and that alone brings us together.  This is the first time I have experienced such a distinct feeling of unity.
