Thursday June 16th
For our Project Supper we had Ultimate California Pizza and fruit. It was soooooo good! We brought our supper back up to our room because we had room devo time. Amanda led us in prayer and then we all went around and pointed out topics from the Relationships talk that we either liked or had questions about. Then she gave us stationary and had us write letters to ourselves that she will hand back to us at the end of the summer. Next we got all dolled up for Project Social: Salsa dancing!!!! Now I must let you in on a little secret… I was slightly nervous and completely dreading this social which may seem silly to a lot of people because after all it is “just dancing”, but for some reason or another I have never been big on dancing especially in a group of people I met just two weeks ago. We had the dance on our main hotel deck overlooking the ocean. The deck was decorated with bright lights to brighten the dance floor. They made an announcement that the guys had to ask the girls to dance. Everyone ended up letting loose and it ended up being extremely fun. To my surprise I actually enjoyed it, mostly because I just decided to have fun with it. It is just like so many other things in life that we fear, they usually don’t turn out to be as bad as we anticipate. After we do it we look back and recognize that it wasn’t worth fretting over. It turns out better than expected especially if we keep a positive attitude and an open mind. Most of us had no idea what we were doing except for a select few which helped us out! We put on some good Latino music to set the mood, and for people who wanted a break from dancing there was chips, guacamole, and salsa.
